Many, many thanks for the huge interest, the messages of encouragement and the gifts. You all quite simply overwhelmed us on our open door day.
Far more people came to this event than we had anticipated: not only the planners and consultants who had been involved with the construction, not only the tradesmen with their families, but also all our neighbours, people with a general interest and plenty of others who were simply curious. All these people were able to turn up at HGS³ at any time during the day and gain a lasting impression of our brand-new concept hotel.
Our investor Stefan Auer delivered an opening address. Then the open day, which represented an extremely special day for us, was opened with a piece played by 80 musicians from the Schmiechen-Schelklingen community youth orchestra, the Schmiechen music society and the Schelklingen city orchestra. This was no ordinary programme, and the stage from which the musicians performed was also quite unusual: it consisted of the balconies of the newly-renovated building.
After the music recital there was a great buzz and bustle throughout and around the entire building. Visitors enjoyed a sumptuous buffet and were well supplied with liquid refreshments and Spanish specialities from the wine bar; in next to no time a fantastic atmosphere was developing. There were separate performances by the Schelklingen “Liederkranz” (song circle) choir. They sang tunefully in a round and encouraged others to join in with them. Two young ladies had travelled over specially from Spain as flamenco dancers, and their magical performance brought a big smile to the faces of everyone present. There were also spontaneous dancing displays in the wine bar from the Spanish waiter in charge of carving the ham. His exuberance went down extremely well, especially with the ladies!
At this point we should also applaud the tireless and professional contribution made by all our staff and temporary assistants.
All in all, thanks to over 1200 visitors, organisers and hard-working helpers, 19th September 2015 turned out to be an absolutely unforgettable day for all of us.
